| In the Puzzle Motion project, focused on recovery after an ICU admission, Johan supported the research trajectory of PhD candidate Lise Beumeler (RUG Campus Fryslân) from his design expertise. Through participatory design sessions, he brought together intensivists, physiotherapists, former ICU patients and their relatives to translate scientific insights into concrete applications for daily clinical practice. The research resulted in promising pilots, a scientific publication in PeerJ, and the successful completion of the PhD trajectory.
